My red Swingline stapler has some competition...
My good friend Alex http://mountain-breeze.blogspot.com/ has just sent a picture of the future in upper-left-corner, paper-on-paper binding technology:
A) nano-bots, wielding lasers to weld the paper at the sub-atomic level
Or
B) some sort of adhesive
(personally, I like the nano-bot idea)
It comes from Japan, so of course it is shaped like a Panda (I'm sure in the near-future it will be available in a veritable Noah's Ark of obscenely cute rotund animal shapes). Can't resist... ...must... have one !

Thanks Kit Ten,
I will read the article momentarily (although I hesitate, because I too wish to remain ignorant, and happily imagine nano-bots in action!).
This does indeed seem to be the week of office supplies...
Speaking of offices - I spoke with the Kentucky Office of the Personell Cabinet (its like their state government HR department) and they were so friendly! They told me not to bother with the on-line registration, but to "... just come on down to our offices and we'd be happy to see you in person..." (wha..?!). I'm not used to such service from state employees (Massachusetts state employees HATE dealing with people - that's why they work for Mass State Gov...).
It is raining again right now (super-heavy)... will the sun ever come out again?
Oh yes,
And it is shaped like a Panda!
The way your post reads it sounds like I am the competition for the Swingline stapler. Perhaps I could try munching down on some reams of paper and giving them a good masticate, with any luck they'll hold together.
Oops, sorry Alex - didn't mean to make it sound like you are some sort of office equipment... Although you were pretty handy around our office (waaaay back in Ocha!).
Ahhh... I remember those times when you would saunter past the door of room 12, double back, take a seat, chew the cud and try to bend the schedule towards your own devious ends. Well, at least try and get Mr Kubo.
Remind me the name of that guy who used to take the first lesson every Saturday morning, talk about the same things again and again and again, ad infinitum, and - - - s p e a k - - - l i k e - - - t h i s :
I - - - r u b u - - - y o u - - - [insert random name here]
Oh yeah, what was his name? He really liked Young Mr. C, too, didn't he? I'll have to e-mail Enfield and get that name for ya!
I drove to Frankfort this afternoon and met some of the nicest, most helpful civil servants at the Kentucky Personell Cabinet. I was in and out of there in twenty minutes. They posted my resume on the system immediately, and told me if I needed anything just to call back. Wow - I have never seen Government with a smiley face before! If I do become a state employee, I'll hold out for Panda staplers. I never imagined myself working for The Man, but these folks are just so... nice - how could I go wrong?
